In Indonesia we say, ‘Prepare an umbrella before it rains.’ The same goes for air quality’s impact on health: prevention first.

Air pollution is invisible, but its effects are felt by children going to school, families enjoying parks, and workers commuting through busy streets. Without reliable data, protecting ourselves or driving meaningful change becomes nearly impossible.

That is why the Plant a Sensor initiative, led by the Nafas Foundation, was created. By expanding Indonesia’s largest air quality monitoring network, we are turning the invisible into something visible, measurable, and actionable.

And this is where you make the difference. Whether you, as an individual, community, or company, choose to install a sensor in your home, school, or office, or support the funding of sensors in public spaces, your role goes beyond participation in growing the network. You lead Indonesia’s air quality ecosystem, building the knowledge anchors that strengthen science, empower communities, and guide healthier decisions for everyone.

Why It Matters

When more people have access to accurate air quality data, we can all make healthier choices from when to exercise outdoors, to how to protect children from high pollution exposure.

Every sensor planted helps build a stronger foundation for healthier cities and better lives.

How You Can Take Part

  • Expand the reach of air quality monitoring to underserved areas with us! Through this program, Nafas encourages individuals, communities, and companies to take part in improving access to reliable air quality information across the country through several ways:
  • If you’re a company
You can integrate Plant a Sensor into your CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) or sustainability programs. By sponsoring sensors in public areas, such as schools, parks, or neighborhoods, you directly contribute to healthier air access for the broader community. Your company’s support helps keep the data network alive and demonstrates a tangible commitment to environmental health.
  • If you’re an individual or community
You can install a sensor for your home, school, or community project. Every sensor you add becomes part of a nationwide network that helps more people stay informed and safe. It’s a small step with a big impact, bringing visibility to something invisible: the air we breathe.

Join Us : Plant a Sensor today.

Be part of Indonesia’s largest Outdoor Air Quality Ecosystem by helping turn invisible pollution into visible, reliable data. Whether installing a sensor or supporting its placement in public spaces, you strengthen the network that empowers science, communities, and healthier decisions for all.

Because healthy air is not a luxury, it’s a shared responsibility.
