Building IAQ Expertise for the Region: Faizal Hasham Joins Nafas
As Nafas continues to expand its indoor air quality (IAQ) solutions across the Middle East, building long-term technical credibility remains central to our approach. To support this next phase of growth, Nafas has appointed Faizal Hasham as Technical Advisor for the UAE.
Faizal is a Canadian environmental engineer with nearly 30 years of experience in air quality monitoring and management, spanning government partnerships, large-scale infrastructure projects, and applied environmental technology. His career reflects a consistent focus on translating air quality data into practical, scalable solutions that protect health and support informed decision-making.
From Community Airshed Programs to Government Collaboration
Early in his career, Faizal played a key role in air quality initiatives across Canada through the Alberta Airshed Societies, where government, industry, and communities worked together to monitor and manage regional air quality. These programs deployed fixed monitoring stations, wearable sensors, and shared data platforms to better understand pollution sources and health impacts at a local level.
This work laid the foundation for Faizal’s expertise in collaborative, data-driven air quality management, an approach that continues to inform his work today.

Delivering Air Quality Monitoring at Mega-Project Scale
Faizal later led complex air quality monitoring programs in the Middle East, including Expo 2020 Dubai, through his work at AQM. The project involved deploying and managing multiple air quality sensors across high-traffic and sensitive environments, including underground parking areas and outdoor spaces surrounding the Al Wasl Dome.
These installations were designed to monitor air quality during periods of intense construction and logistics activity, where vehicle emissions, dust, and operational complexity required a robust, technically sound monitoring framework.

Bridging Data, Technology, and Practical Application
Alongside large-scale programs, Faizal has worked closely with environmental agencies and technology partners on pilot projects that bring air quality data closer to end users. These initiatives combined connected sensors with digital tools to communicate air quality information through recognized AQI indices, supporting more transparent and accessible environmental reporting.
This hands-on experience with sensor technology, data interpretation, and user-facing applications aligns closely with Nafas’ focus on making indoor air quality measurable, understandable, and actionable.

Supporting Nafas’ Indoor Air Quality Mission
In his role as Technical Advisor for the UAE, Faizal will support Nafas in strengthening its IAQ solutions across education, healthcare, and residential environments, while contributing to strategic partnerships and technically sound market expansion.
As the Middle East continues to prioritize sustainability, health, and smart building design, Faizal’s experience across policy, infrastructure, and applied monitoring will help ensure Nafas’ solutions remain credible, scalable, and responsive to regional environmental conditions.
Nafas is pleased to welcome Faizal to the team and looks forward to working together to advance healthier indoor environments across the UAE and beyond.
